Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to us.
If you have questions about this policy or wish to delete or correct your personal data please contact us.

In addition to the following privacy policies, we strongly recommend you check out our Policies and Copyright notice.

Website Visitors
Like most web sites, Virginia Wine In My Pocket may collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available; things like the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. This allows us to better better understand how visitors use this web site. In future we may for business reasons release such non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate (e.g., reporting on trends in the usage of this site).

Virginia Wine In My Pocket reserves the option to collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments. We may collect this information directly in system logs or though use of third-party data monitoring services (e.g., Google webmaster tools). However, we will only ever disclose logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances as discussed below for disclosure of other personally-identifying information.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Several features of the new Virginia Wine In My Pocket web site require users to be identified specifically by logging in to this web site. For the most part, this has to do with technical requirements to manage per-user site functions such as allowing users to track places they have visited or keep personal tasting notes.

Users of this site who wish to participate and use advanced features of this site are required to "join" the Virginia Wine In My Pocket community (establishing an account on this system). Members are asked to provide some personally-identifying information. For example, at launch we require new members to select a username, provide an email address, select a password, and indicate their general location by city and state (and/or country). That basic information is used to provide security, deny access to automated "robots," facilitate user contact, and help us understand user geographic distribution and interest areas. We hope such geographic information may lead to additional functionality, offerings, or products over time. Optionally, we may also ask for mailing address or other personal contact information. This added optional information is not required but if provided may be used to facilitate contact for future services.

Virginia Wine In My Pocket does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. Visitors always have the option not to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that this may prevent them from fully participating or accessing some features of this web site.

Aggregated Statistics

Virginia Wine In My Pocket and our parent company, En Route Communications, may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to our web sites. While we have no current plans to do so, we reserve the option to display this information in aggregate publicly or provide it to others. However, we will not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Virginia Wine In My Pocket discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf, support services or features of this site, or provide offerings consistent with this website; and (ii) agree not to disclose such information to others. Some of those affiliates may be located outside your region or even home country; by using this web site, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Other than to employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations as described above, Virginia Wine In My Pocket and En Route Communications will disclose personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of this site, our company, third parties, or the public at large. If you are a registered user of this site, we may occasionally use contact information to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Virginia wine. In future member location data may make it possible to offer special features or opportunities; in that event we will provide a means to "opt out" on this web site and will honor any legitimate request we receive not to be included in such offerings (whether by "opt out" option on this site, direct e-mail, or by the contact form on this site). We primarily use this site itself to communicate that type of information, so we expect to keep this type of direct contact to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Virginia Wine In My Pocket seeks in all circumstances to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of personally-identifying information.

Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time that visitor returns. Virginia Wine In My Pocket may use cookies to identify users for the purpose of facilitating system performance and user functionality -- for instance, enabling "remember me" functionality or saving user preferences for future visits. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before accessing this site. However, please be aware that some features of this site may not function properly without cookies (for instance, without cookies members would have to log in to the site every time).

Business Transfers
If Virginia Wine In My Pocket or substantially all of its assets are acquired (including the unlikely event that is directed due to bankruptcy or legal action), user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that any acquirer may continue to use your personal information according to the terms set forth in this policy.

Advertising
At launch, Virginia Wine In My Pocket has no advertising. However, it is reasonable to anticipate that advertising may be offered in future. (For example, it may be necessary to generate revenue to maintain this site, especially if our new user features become popular and demand exceeds our ability to fund it "out of pocket.") Ads appearing on this site may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by the developers, owners, and maintainers of the Virginia Wine In My Pocket web site. It does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.
